i've just returned from a birthday trip to bangkok, which is one of my favourite cities ever. being the third time (fourth for danial) we've been there, we decided to be a little more adventurous by venturing out to different parts of bangkok, and engaging in other activities that aren't eating and shopping. (i mean, obviously we still did those... it's bangkok, for goodness sake. a shopping haven. of cos i have to do some hardcore shopping.)

one of the highlights of this trip was visiting a cat cafe. now i've always loved cats, although i loved them from behind the safety of my screen. that means i've only enjoyed the company of them through visuals on a computer LOL. i don't like the feeling of furry things moving around me, and the heartbeat of animals scares me. once when i was 11, my classmate put her hamster on my palm and the grossness of feeling its heartbeat made me dropp that little shit onto the floor. I JUST CAN'T, OK???? it was nasty. i feel kinda sorry for the hamster, but not as sorry as i felt for myself, having to go through that turmoil.

then a few years ago, my grandma adopted a kitty and so i tried my hands at carrying it. but it made me feel uncomfortable as well, so i just adored the cat from a corner of whatever room it happened to grace its presence at lol. but i've always wanted to visit a cat cafe – in fact, danial and i have actually made plans to go to one in singapore. it's just that me, being a pussy, always flaked out. the reason why we (well, ok, me) decided to go to caturday was becos we suddenly had a pocket of time and didn't want to spend it at a mall. just one small decision, and the universe conspired to make it happen. *cues worldly new-age background music*

what i like about caturday is that there is literally no animal odour. and i'm not exaggerating when i say i'm really sensitive about animal smells. most people who own pets won't admit that they (both the human and the pet) have a certain stench about them. i'm not sure how the people at caturday do it, but the cafe didn't stink, and that was a huge plus point for me.

secondly, as there were about 14 (i think more, i can't be sure) cats, it was important for patrons to follow the rules. one of them is that we're not allowed to carry the cats. which made it even easier for me cos then i wouldn't feel obligated to carry one of the kitties, cos i'm not even allowed to do so. it was a purfect win-win situation.

now, on to the cats. they were so docile!!!!! a couple of them had that evil, psychotic glint in their eyes, but for the most parts, they just couldn't give a rat's ass about your existence.

if you want attention, you have two options. one: be a fucking cat whisperer. two: present them with treats. and so i did, cos i don't believe i'm at stage one yet HAHAHA. my time will come. at 20thb (or is it 40? i'm not sure), you could purchase jelly treats off the counter, and they were available in fucking nasty flavours, like chicken and liver etc. it fucking stinks i swear. the cats i fed were licking them off and in their haste, along with hardcore tongue-flicking action, some of the jelly landed on my thumb. and. it. fucking. stinks.

i can't even lie about it.

as much as i love cats, their food smells bad when dry, and even worse when it's wet T.T

but that aside, i had so much fun!!!! we spent almost two hours there, just petting cats, and letting them snub us. i ended up buying four packets of dank-smelling treats cos i'm a slave to the kitties.

during feeding time, the cat-taker (ha i'm so punny) would start hitting a spoon against the cats' metal serving plate to signal meal time. about 6-7 cats would then gather around whoever was feeding. and they ate off a spoon!!! how cute is that, seriously.

omg if i could just take this grey cutie home!!!!!
i think caturday is a must-go if you're a cat lover. there's no entrance fee – the only exception is that every patron has to order something. which was more than fine, really! we had a glass of thai iced tea and long black, but to be honest i only drank 2 sips. please. who has time to drink chayen when there are FUCKING CATS ALL AROUND! obviously i had to dedicate all my time to the cats!

(and also cos i don't wanna ingest cat's fur T.T lol i'm just very anal about cleanliness and hygiene ok)
